Kattippara Grama Panchayat was formed on October 1, 2005. Kattippara is a Grama Panchayat located in Koduvally Block in Thamarassery Taluk of Kozhikode district. As the name Kattippara, meaning 'rock in the shape of a cot', suggests, there are many rocky hilly areas here.

Geography and Economy

      The northeastern regions of the panchayat, filled with hills and mountains, were vast forests where wild animals roamed freely half a century ago. Even before the formation of Kerala, migrants who came from the erstwhile Travancore cleared the forests and transformed them into settlements. The migrants who had reached Kattippara, one of the northern regions, half a century ago, used a vast rock as a cot to sleep on in the forest. It is said that this Kattippara gradually evolved into the name Kattippara over time.

Main Source of Income

     Agriculture. Crops such as rubber, coconut, arecanut, ginger, and pepper are mainly cultivated.

Climate 
    The climate here is generally cool and humid. Hot weather is experienced from March to May.This region is one of the areas receiving the highest amount of rainfall in Kattippara.

Major Tourist Attractions:

‌       The 3 major hilly areas of Poovanmala, Amaradumala, and Kolamala are suitable for trekking and sightseeing (sightseeing). These places are also habitats of wild animals and birds. There is also a waterfall at Amaradumala.
